Meet SCWC keynote speakers Todd Gerelds and Ginger Rue

One of the highlights of the annual Southern Christian Writers Conference is the opportunity to hear from excellent keynote presenters. Each year we have two highly professional, successful, and inspirational speakers present a keynote speech to all of the SCWC participants.

This year we're thrilled to have Todd Gerelds and Ginger Rue as our keynoters.

Todd Gerelds is the author of the book Woodlawn (Simon & Schuster), a dramatic, powerful, and true story of redemption and reconciliation that occurred in the middle of a racially charged and volatile era of Birmingham, Alabama's history. The miraculous events that Todd witnessed as the young son of Coach Tandy Gerelds--Woodlawn High School's football coach in the early 70's--became a popular major motion picture. The message of reconciliation and hope inherent in Woodlawn's story reaches far beyond the football field. It speaks to our individual lives, our families, our churches, our businesses, and our country, calling us to a better way to relate, understand each other, and unite in our effort to work better together. Todd is also the author of Always Fall Forward (Tyndale Momentum), a collection of 52 lessons learned from his father. Todd is married to wife, Jennifer, and they have four daughters.

Todd will present a keynote address titled "Writing from your Life Experiences" and will also lead a workshop titled "From Book to Film." He will present in-person, and his sessions will also be broadcast live to those attending the conference virtually.

Ginger Rue is a contributing editor for Guideposts Magazine and the author of the "Aleca Zamm" series (Simon & Schuster), the "Tig Ripley" series (Sleeping Bear Press), and the novels Brand New Emily and Jump (Tricyle Press). Her current book, Wonder Women of Science--a nonfiction anthology of outstanding women in today's STEM community--is co-authored with Tiera Fletcher, a rocket scientist working with NASA on the Mars mission. Ginger got her start writing for magazines such as Seventeen, Teen Vogue, and Family Circle. She has a widespread understanding of the publication process on multiple levels, while also maintaining a powerful Christian witness.
