SCWC 2022 Writing Awards

The Southern Christian Writers Conference Writing Awards are a highlight of every annual SCWC workshop. They honor outstanding published work in the form of magazine articles, short fiction, poetry, newspaper articles, letters to the editor, and blog posts. The deadline to submit is May 25, 2022.

Here are the rules to enter the 2022 contest:

RULES:

  1. To enter, you must have attended at least one SCWC event in the past two years OR be registered for the 2022 workshop (either in-person or virtual).

  2. Works must have been PUBLISHED between July 1, 2021 and May 1, 2022.

  3. You may submit no more than one entry per category (but can submit in multiple categories).

  4. Short stories and poems must have been published in a newspaper or magazine or been included in a published book. The publications can be either religious or secular and either printed or online. Blog posts can be published on any blog (your own, or someone else's).

  5. To enter the contest send a photocopy of the entire work as it appeared in the publication and a photocopy of a page (such as the table of contents or cover) that shows the publication's title and date to the physical address below. A blog post can be shared to the email address below with an online link.​

  6. Send a letter to the address with: your name, category entering (magazine article, newspaper article, short story, poetry, letter to the editor, or blog post), and your contact information (including email address).

  7. You must also submit a $5 reading fee with your entry. 

  8. The deadline (postmark) for entering the contest is May 25, 2022.

Payment can be made by Venmo (@SCWC-Conference), PayPal (scwritersconference@gmail.com), credit/debit card (let us know and we'll invoice you), or by check to SCWC.

The top three winners will be announced during the closing session of the 2022 SCWC on June 4. (The awards presentation will be broadcast live, along with all other sessions, to the virtual participants.) The top winner in each category will win a small cash prize; second place, third place, and honorable mention will receive a certificate of recognition.
