Coming Soon: The Southern Christian Book Expo and SCWC Notable Books Awards Ceremony

We're excited to announce the dates and details of the the upcoming Southern Christian Book Expo and partnering SCWC Notable Book Awards Ceremony.

The two events work in conjunction with each other, and we look forward to welcoming many of our SCWC members as they take part in the Expo and Awards Ceremony.

2022 Southern Christian Book Expo

This year's Southern Christian Book Expo will take place virtually on Friday, January 28 and Saturday, January 29. The Book Expo--which provides an outlet for SCWC authors to promote and sell their books--will take place online and will be free to any members who would like to participate. (How are you an SCWC member? You've attended any SCWC event in the past OR you're a member of its online community.)

Books by our authors will be displayed in a private FB group for the Expo and also through the SCWC Facebook group. Books will be displayed by genre and will be

listed with their covers and ordering information. Our hope is that other SCWC members--and the general public--will learn more about the books and consider purchasing copies for themselves. (Photo : Attendees enjoy the 2020 Book Expo in Birmingham. This year's event will be virtual.)

During the Expo's two days, there will also be opportunities for authors to promote their books through special Facebook Live videos hosted by SCWC coordinator Cheryl Wray and other staff members; select authors will also be asked to read from their books.

If you would like to participate in the Book Expo by displaying your books online, please send an email to scwritersconference@gmail.com with BOOK EXPO and YOUR NAME in the subject line. Please submit your material by January 22. This is a free opportunity!

SCWC Notable Book Awards Ceremony

Winners of the 2021 SCWC Notable Book Awards will be announced at the contest's ceremony, broadcast live on January 29 at 3 p.m. CT from The Alabama Baptist headquarters in Homewood (Birmingham), Alabama. The awards ceremony will be held in conjunction with the Southern Christian Book Expo and will be broadcast in the SCWC Facebook group, the Book Expo Facebook group, and on Youtube.

The Notable Book Awards are given each year to recognize outstanding books in the following categories: fiction (self-published), fiction (traditionally published), nonfiction (self-published), nonfiction (traditionally published), devotional, and children's/young adult. The books must have been published in the calendar year of 2021 and can be either Christian in nature or present a positive, faith-based worldview. Books are judged by SCWC staff members and professional judges in each category and are judged according to literary quality and meaningful message.

The deadline to submit a book to the SCWC Notable Books Awards is Dec. 15 (postmarked). Three finalists in each category will be announced on Jan. 15.

To enter a book into the contest, send a hard copy to SCWC, PO Box 3057, Hueytown AL 35023. An entry/reading fee of $10 is required for each book entered; you can send a check to the above address or pay by Venmo to @SCWC-Conference or by PayPal to scwritersconference@gmail.com.

All finalists and their family members are invited to attend the awards ceremony in Birmingham; local SCWC members are invited to attend as well.

We look forward to spending time with you--whether in-person or online--at these two events, and can't wait to celebrate all of our authors who work so hard at their craft.

Please let us know if you have any questions or comments about these or other SCWC-sponsored events.
