A Wellspring of Water

by guest blogger Tim Johnson

"But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to Eternal Life."

(John 4:7-26)

Jesus took a moment and made it into a promise.

The Samaritan woman (and it could be any of us), came out of routine and need seemingly caught up in that mere routine of limited understanding. Her faith was there, and our "faith" is with us, at least we say it is.

But the moment of fulfillment can still catch us off guard, the "Well, here's what you've been searching for", and we realize that faith that's been caught up in the day to day concerns and worries has been real and genuine all along. No longer "going through the motions," we are instead called to affirming response.

It was the Samaritan woman that day, it could be us----any day. and once we've humbly offered that affirmed response, may we share the same with others, offering to them from that "welling up spring."

Amen.
